Chess is as popular today as at any time in its long and colourful history. It instils creativity, logic, endeavour, sportsmanship, time management and an appreciation of artistry.
I learned to play at age six in 1970, awed by the rhetoric of The Modern Chess Primer written in 1899! Two years on, I avidly followed the Fischer–Spassky “Match of the Century” in Iceland. After joining the NSW Junior Chess League I won my first tournament, the 1976 NSW under 13 state championship. Later as a member of the NSW Chess Association and Australian Chess Federation I achieved a number of high placings as a Category 1 player. It was also in my formative years I developed my passion for electronic chess technologies.
The raison d'être of Gambit Chess Supplies is to offer chess players a quality electronic and classic range in the professional and secure European-style internet chess shop tradition.
